Dwelling insurance is designed to protect a secondary home, such as a rental, vacation, or seasonally occupied home from any property damage that may happen from fire or other sudden occurrences. The homeowner must purchase dwelling insurance if someone other than the owner occupies it so that, should any damage or loss occur, the home will be insured.

Dwelling insurance includes the following coverage for your home:

• the home's contents (such as furniture or household appliances) that is being used by the tenants or renters

• personal liability (no liability coverage for injury or damage sustained for tenants or renters)
